My family has a long tradition of having noodles during Lunar New Year. In Chinese culture, noodle is a symbol of longevity. The longer the noodles are, the longer, healthier, and wealthier life you will have for the year ahead. 

This artwork depicts a playful scene with the longevity noodle prepared as a traditional good luck knot, accompanied by other dishes that symbolise good luck, such as fish, dumplings and Nian Gao. The scene is the serene, inviting 'post preparation' depiction of Lunar New Year dinners, which are often very busy and chaotic during the preparation stage.
